Luke M. Martin, Esq.
State Bar #276735

Luke has had a passion for the law since he was a young boy. In pursuit of this passion, Luke enrolled at the University of North Texas, in Dallas, Texas straight out of high school.

While in college, Luke obtained full time employment as a file clerk at Culp, Dyer & Halpren, LLP, a premier commercial litigation firm. While working full time, Luke pursued a double major in English and political science, and graduated with honors in only 3 years.

His stellar score on the LSAT, combined with his phenomenal educational success at the university, allowed Luke his choice of several of the best law schools in the country. Luke fell in love with San Diego on his first visit and chose California Western School of Law after being offered a substantial scholarship.

While in law school, Luke pursued a variety of internships in order to broaden his exposure to the law. One of his experiences was working at the restraining order clinic at the Madge Bradley Courthouse. For this service, Luke was awarded the Wiley E. Manuel award from the State Bar of California for his dedication to pro bono service. At the same time, he was inducted into the California Western Pro Bono Honors Society.

Throughout his time at California Western, Luke was active in several clubs and organizations. His main committment was serving as president of the Child, Family, Elder Law Society. He worked tirelessly to relaunch the society which had collapsed and helped to create a mentoring program for upcoming leaders to ensure future success of the society.

Through specialized course work in alternate dispute resolution, domestic violence, and through focused pro bono work and internships, Luke was able to obtain his Juris Doctor degree with the Child, Family, Elder law specialization certificate with honors.

Following graduation, Luke spent 9 weeks studying for the California bar exam, widely known as the hardest bar exam in the country. Luke’s hard work and dedication paid off when he was notified on May 13, 2011 that he had passed the California bar exam on his first try, something that is accomplished by less than 40% of those who attempt it.

Not one to rest on his achievements, Luke immediately began applying for jobs and was hired in June of 2011 as the sole negotiator for Bridgepoint Education. Following his time there, he opened this firm: Luke Martin Law.

Luke currently serves as a director on the California Western Alumni Board. As well as, an adjunct faculty member at Ashford University, Bristol University, and New England College.

Luke believes in working hard in order to play hard. When he is not working, he is probably trying a new restaurants, wine tasting, riding roller-coasters at an amusement park, or playing catch with his two dogs.
